Two of a Kind presents musical programs for children of all ages, including songs, movement, sign language, puppets and stories - all with an emphasis on interaction and particpation. Themes of songs and stories range from friendship and animals to social issues such as the environment, conflict resolution and diversity.

David, who received his bachelors degree in composition from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, has taught music to children and adults since 1982. Jenny has a background in training, education, creative writing, movement and dance. Jenny was a member of the Anna Crusis Women's Choir for four years and sang on the group's recording "Fresh Cut". David and Jenny are active in the Children's Music Network, and Jenny is currently on the board of CMN. David and Jenny have also produced their own "two of a kind": twin sons named Ari and Jason born in January 1995!

Two of a Kind: Going On An Adventure

Two of a Kind's Going On An Adventure is an upbeat album of songs particularly for kids ages 2-7. Going On An Adventure takes children on adventures with books, animals, dinosaurs, firefighters, pirates, grandparents and more! There are original songs, songs by songwriters such as Tom Chapin and Bill Harley, and one traditional song, with musical styles including zydeco, rock, bluegrass, rockabilly, Latin-Caribbean and folk. Two of a Kind is joined on this recordings by top-notch musicians, including instrumentalists who have worked with the likes of Billy Joel, Chaka Kahn and Susan Werner, as well as the Philadelphia-area bluegrass band Fred's Mobile Homes. There is also a great kids' chorus, with featured solos from young singers. The result is good music, not just "kids' music".

Two of a Kind is a nationally touring husband-wife duo specializing in interactive music for children. David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans have been singing together since 1987. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT "GOING ON AN ADVENTURE":

"Solid musicianship and decidedly upbeat energy will have listeners proclaiming this husband-and-wife team as a one-of-a-kind find. A playfully eclectic roster of songs includes a jaunty "Mama Don't Allow" and the body-parts song "Horns to Toes," adapted from a picture book by Sandra Boynton, [and] other get-up-and-groove tunes featuring kid-friendly themes. Throughout, electric and acoustic guitar, horns, banjo, mandolin and flute add pizzazz to the snappy arrangements. Pleasant folk harmonies abound."
-Review in Publishers Weekly (December, 1999)

"This is a must have! Obviously, David and Jenny know music and how to involve kids with songs. We highly recommend Going on an Adventure as great music for home, traveling or for school classrooms. Children won't get tired of these enjoyable hand clapping/foot stomping songs!"
- 5-star Review on allstarreview.com website

"Going On An Adventure is a peppy, upbeat album full of danceable inventive tunes and catchy melodies that keep the kids swaying to the music and highly entertained (& out of your hair for a while). Going On An Adventure is geared more towards the dynamic pre/early school year olds....Superb Stuff there !!!!"
- Stavros Moschopoulos, review in Kids' Corner (Music for Little Tykes) column, FAO CASA GAZETTE, Rome, Italy (October, 1999)

6 year music critic, April 27, 2002
Reviewer: Maria (see more about me) from Wayne, PA USA
I am a six years old boy and love Two of a Kind's music. I listen to the CD's ten hours a day (when I don't have to go to school). I really like their music. Your kid will, too. Even my mom and dad and older sister sing their songs in the car. You can't go wrong with anything they sing. I like Hey, hey, Halloween the best on this CD. This is Mom: You can believe every word of this.

"'Going On An Adventure' has a contagious content, both lyrically and musically. Positive messages of learning are found in each song. Every song deals with a different topic or scenario the child may be in, talk about, or have a general knowledge of. I played it for my kids one day and the next day they were excitedly asking for it again. The proof is in the pudding. "We Are The Dinosaurs" will rock those little ones until their hearts' content. Even if you're an adult, this music really works on you."
- Review on MuzikMan web site (March 2000) [Note: this web site is currently inactive]

"Jenny and David's voices blend pleasantly together, and they are joined by a chorus of children on several songs. The tunes are bouncy, catchy, and enjoyable. "Stop, Drop and Roll" may help save a child's life in a fire. Rock, reggae, blues, zydeco and bluegrass are just some of the musical styles which they use for the songs on this album."
-Beverly Bixler, San Antonio Public Library, TX - Review in School Library Journal (January 2000)

"The music and vocals are superb with their own twin sons adding sound effects and solo's to the recording. This husband and wife team love what they do best, bringing life to stories for kids with music. It shows through in every song!"

This is a GREAT CD!
My 6 year old loves this cd! We checked it out of the library and kept renewing it again and again. Now he finally got one of his own for his birthday. The songs are catchy and not the typical songs on other cd's. The songs are fun for kids to listen to and don't drive the adults crazy...so it's good all around. Thanks for a great family cd!

My 2-year old loves this CD!
My 2-year old son loves the songs on this CD. Every time we put it on he starts dancing and jumping around the room. He knows the chorus of the Pirate Song and will start singing that even if the music is not on. My husband and I also like the sings and enjoy listening to the CD. Very clever lyrics, catchy tunes and great themes for kids.
