Album Notes

Hello friends,
I hope you will enjoy this recording of some bluegrass favorites performed on my 5-string Dobro and banjo. I even do a little guitar picking and some singing too. These songs you have probably heard many times before and hopefully you will like my arrangement of them. These songs seem to always be requested at my live performances and I thought I’d put them on this recording for you.
I want to thank my good friends who helped me record this collection of tunes. Mac Puckett who has one of the best rhythm guitar licks in the world and some soulful heartfelt vocals. Also, my longtime friends and fellow “VW Boys” Larry McPeak on vocals and bass and Dave Vaught on guitar and vocals. These guys are like brothers to me and we all (including Mac) have performed together as VW Boys since 1997. Mac became a VW Boy for one year while filling in for Larry during his successful liver transplant.
Also helping me on this recording are several other friends. Tim Laughlin on mandolin and fiddle. I have worked with Tim for over 30 years now in bluegrass music and he is one of the finest bluegrass musicians in the world. Also another fine musician who plays fiddle on this project is Hunter Berry. I am proud to say that the first time Hunter played a “paying gig” was with me at the Carter Fold in Hiltons, VA in the 1990s. He has gone on to perform with Melvin Goins, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and Rhonda Vincent and the Rage! I am very proud to have Hunter on this recording. Other musicians and good friends who you’ll hear on this recording are Teddy Helton on bass, Jeff Brown on bass and Tony Collins with some unbelievable flat picking on his fine guitar. I just want to say a big “Thank You” to everyone who participated on this CD. It is always a pleasure working with great musicians in the studio. And speaking of the studio…I want to really brag in a fine engineer and the owner of Classic Recording Studios in Bristol, VA, Mr. Richard Porter. Thanks so much Richard for your fine work and great ear!
So here it is! You asked for it!
Tim White
