Album Notes

For the past decade, Ty Gram has performed in coffeehouses, church basements, and folk venues. Her rich, expressive voice and storytelling flair have captivated audiences in big cities and small towns. Every song tells a story. Every two stories have a story in between.

These are songs of spiritual healing and recovery. They begin with romance addiction, the pain of seclusion, the futility of misplaced faith... and end with a life fulfilled. Each song is a gem formed by life's adversities and lessons.

"There is a striking spiritual depth in Ty Gram's music. Some of her songs revolve around the stunningly painful reality of suffering. Others are more lighthearted celebrations of the foibles and predicaments we find ourselves in as we strive for meaning and purpose. This is music for those who are looking for company as they journey through life's surprises and challenges."-Father Mike Knotek

REVIEWS

Poignant poetry and subtle humor, matched to haunting melodies.

This CD stands the test of repeated listening. Its songs express a range of emotions in poetry that is poignant and laced with subtle humor. The melodies are often hauntingly beautiful, with musical intervals and progressions that aren't predictably obvious, yet they have a rightness that makes them seem inevitable, like Hoagy Carmichael's artistry. These lovely songs have an individual stamp but also wide appeal.

This CD is set apart by poetic lyrics that are very honest and true to the heart. The chord changes are different from the norm - sometimes reminding me of Leonard Cohen. It's a great CD!

Many people will like the Elvis song best for its humor and charm, but my favorite is I Stand by You (the cow song). Like many songs on the album, I Stand by You reveals remarkable insight into human relationships. But listen to the whole album, as it's just a joy to hear Ty sing.

Tuneful, heartfelt and very moving. I especially appreciate the lyrics...wonderful words that really make you think. They are original, poetic and often take me completely by surprise...even after I've heard and read them many times! If you like thought-provoking, arresting music that means something, this collection of songs is highly recommended.
