The Young Immortals have infiltrated Portland like a battlefield. The Style and history of front man Jacob Ray has combined to create an energetic and vibrant rock show layered with personality and conviction. In a musical world dominated by pop-punk and emo, The Young Immortals remind people that rock and roll once had the ability to convey passion and dignity in the same way impressionist painters capture the essence of life.
The Young Immortals are thoughtful but not depressive. Sing along but not throwaway. Throughout the repertoire, songs are lushly textured by an evocative performance containing an aggressive physical energy.
July and August of 2007 The Young Immortals Independently booked and toured across the country to promote the debut album "When History Meets Fiction", to great success!
In November of 2006, The Young Immortals competed against 30 bands at the Rockstar Energy Drink “Battle of the Bands” in Portland. After Storm and The Balls of the Rockstar Supernova television show performed, the audience voted for its favorite act of the night. The Young Immortals were the Grand Prize winners and received recording time at Kung-Fu Bakery (Shins, Everclear, Tegan and Sara, Decemberists).
In April of 2007 the Starbucks compilation CD “Off the Clock Vol. 1” hit the shelves in over 6,500 Starbucks coffeehouses across North America. The CD features The Young Immortals hit song, The Fever, and has been played on pop, rock, alternative, and even some talk radio throughout the Northwest and shows no signs of slowing down on play-lists around the country. The band receives dozens of emails per day from fans everywhere who listen to The Fever at their local Starbucks and on XM radio channel 75, Hear Music. They have even received fan mail from people as far away as Belgium and France as a result of their international out reach through Myspace.
We are excited to be included on the Starbucks compilation (some profits go to charity), but are quick to stifle ideas that they’re a corporate-sponsored band. Jacob Ray remains a true independent and is not currently signed to a label. You can catch The Young Immortals at live music hotspots around the country in 2008.
When History Meets Fiction is available at iTunes and CDBaby.com. And many more locations that you can find at www.myspace.com/theyoungimmortals

Infectious tunes, while the blood rushes to...

Even though I've seen these guys play live, they won me over with this album. It's put together very well: vocals, lyrics, music, production--it's a wonderful mesh of explosive energy. The Young Immortals' high energy music is paired with lyrics that get caught in your ear, without the guilt and eventual grating annoyance of corporate pop music. And I love a good pop song but, like cheap bubble gum, it loses it's delightful flavor fast.
When History Meets Fiction hasn't left my cd player. This flavor lasts and lasts.
Dirty Angels definitely sets the tone, and by the time The Fever comes on, you know what you've gotten yourself into, dancing by yourself. Hot For Sarah is a hot'n'sexy track, while The Money Won't Last and Smoke and Mirrors rounds out the album. It is an excellent first album, and I am anxiously waiting to hear more from these guys.
