Album Notes

Tyler is a great drummer and fluidly expressive writer from out of the West

Graduate of the Calgary University’s jazz programme, studied composition at University of Boulder in Colorado with Grammy Award winning pianist Chip Stephens, possessor of a highly contemporary sense of drive and melody born from an inspirational line stretching somewhere between Max Roach, Roy Haynes and Bill Stewart.

Gigged across Canada, Europe and the US. Played with folk like Bob Mintzer, Ingrid Jensen, Frank Mantooth, Alain Caron, Brad Goode, Mike Tomaro, Hugh Fraser, Tommy Banks, Chip Stephens, The Chet Baker Project, and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. Co-leads, and co-writes for, electric jazz quartet Terrain

This recording features Mike Murley and Ingrid Jensen with an all-star rhythm section of Chip Stephens (piano), Ken Walker (bass) and leader Tyler Hornby (drums).
