  • Excellent

Great musician and performances. Generally relaxing, with enough tension to keep it interesting. As a fingerstyle guitarist myself, I really enjoyed his technique and appreciated his skill. Bought an extra copy as a gift. Well worth a listen!

  • Very inviting collection of tone poems
    author: Terry Fain

A very nice collection of tone poems, superbly played and excellently recorded. The songs flow seamlessly from one to the next, creating a very inviting mood for the listener. The songs are not so much melodic as atmospheric, possibly influenced by New Age and Hawaiian slack key guitar. Easy to listen to, and well worth it.

  • Beautiful, peaceful, amazingly strong debut album!

This CD is full of wonderful music. Bryan's songs display a wide range of emotions, from serene to playful to slightly menacing/forlorn. Iceland, and its darker variation on a theme, Greenland, are so open and lilting, they make me feel like I'm flying. The relatively minimalist Tumbleweed is perfectly soothing. Lastly, the slide guitar in Innocence and Badwater (my personal favorite!) are particularly effective in capturing the mood, and the combination finger-picking and slide is so alluring. I'm not generally a solo guitar kind of gal (or really, a guitar gal at all!), but since I got this CD I have been listening to it non-stop! Fantastic job!!

  • A stunning debut, rich and inspiring.
    author: Caron Maso Murray

A stunning debut, rich and inspiring. Bryan weaves his poignant melodies and heart thumping rhythms into beautiful individual tapestries, each one impressive on it's own; yet the synergy of the collection and it's hints at variations on several different themes reminds me at times of a full classical work. I am digging it.

  • More than Mellow
    author: Trespassers Will

Excellent!! Many of these compositions seduce you into stopping whatever you’re doing & just listen to the syncopation, crisp picking & intricate arrangements. The performances are very rich - several sound like multiple guitars are playing. “Badwater” has a lovely slow jazz feel, “Cirrus stratus” rolls beautifully, & “Tumbleweed” is very slow, thoughtful & moving. I have a couple other candidates for favorite cut. A must CD for any serious guitar fan.

  • Simply amazing!
    author: Brian C.

Bryan's latest CD is exceptionally easy to listen to, and his playing is very expressive. I listened to his CD in the car several times over an 8 hour drive, and I found it to be quite soothing. This will be my new rush hour CD! I found myself focusing on the intricacy of his playing, which really caused me to listen intently to each song. Very well produced, and some real top notch playing. Kudos, Bryan!

  • Elegant and Engaging
    author: T. Parpar-Ramirez

Contemporary acoustic guitar music frequently features songs that too readily 'force' an emotional response (a flaw no doubt carried over from the New Age genre from which it often borrows), and is captured by production that seems more interested in lulling the listening into sleep than in presenting a dynamic reproduction of the player's work. This album avoids these pitfalls entirely, offering a collection of songs with enough tonal, stylistic and thematic variety to hold the listener's attention throughout. Moreover, the songs are actually memorable, and highly so, further setting themselves apart from a good portion of the pack. This is a fine collection of well-written and expertly performed songs, tastefully produced and beautifully packaged. Bravo.

  • a trip worth taking

I found Bryan Tysinger's CD a very intriguing journey, from the rolling opening tune through the dark complexity of the middle sections to the full-circle conclusion of the upbeat final piece. A very well-constructed emotional arc and excellent playing throughout. A lot to think about while one listens...there is depth in this music. I highly recommend this CD.

  • Inspired. Pure music
    author: MNmike

Truely inspired composition and performance. An honest musician whos goal is the music / song and not a showcase for chops. I'm amazed at the range of emotion conveyed through a few, simple guitars. The production quality is also excellent. Whether your a fan of guitar specifically, or just good music in general, this cd will not disappoint. -Highly recommended !

  • Upbeat contemplative
    author: Jean-François Blanchette

(disclaimer: Bryan is the husband of one of my former students. She gave me CD. No one of us, as far as I am aware, discussed the matter with Karl Rove or Robert Novak beforehand). This album caught me by surprise. Perhaps the most beautiful about it is its complete lack of pretension. Bryan is obviously an accomplished musician, but at every turns, he resists the temptation to show off his chops. This results in an album where each note come at its own pace, hunurried, and the mood becomes almost contemplative --- which does not mean slow! Something like feeling the grain of a beautiful piece of wood. The melodies are beautiful, and have stayed with me throughout the days. It has become one of our favorite CDs to travel, work, or play with. On top of this, Bryan has a day job creating mathematical models of epidemics. I'm jealous of that much talent.

  • Perfect for many many moods and needs ....
    author: Arnab

This album is better than anything I have heard BT play before. Needing music for everything I have found this works really well when ... working at office, reading dissertation related work, programming random stuff in R, setting the mood for an evening to nurse a pinot grigio .... a few occasions remain to try out, but I don’t expect to be disappointed!!!
