Cameroonian vocalist, Gino Sitson and British pianist, James Uhart met in New York and became friends long before deciding to record a project together.
The album title: “Conversation” refers to the many hours they spent just talking and sharing ideas – some serious, some not so serious.
When it came to putting some music together, their conversation simply became a musical one, and the process was as natural as the music itself.
The collaboration between these two musicians has resulted in a unique blending of elements from African and European music along with those from the American jazz tradition. This has been achieved with no compromise to the musical identity of each musician. Gino Sitson has retained his renowned colorful and virtuosic voice with his rhythmic approach and James Uhart has kept his lyrical and sensitive piano playing.
Other than the freshness of concept, what comes across so clearly in this recording
is the genuine warmth, liveliness and spontaneity of two friends having a conversation.
