Album Notes

Uisce Beatha (ish keh ba ha) is a Gaelic term. Transliterated, it means " Water of Life," but in usage it means a distilled liquor, indigenous to the Celtic nations of Ireland and Scotland. The English mispronunciation, "whiskey" is more familiar to most.

Uisce Beatha is also one of the most popular names for Irish music bands. This one is a Richmond, Virginia group of dilettantes, playing a broad mix of songs and tunes that we like to call "Irish American Pub Music"., We put the "ech" in eclectic, running the gamut from the Clancy Bro's, Tommy Makem & the Wolfe Tones, through Van Morrisson, U2 and the Commitments to Christy Moore, Black 47, the Pogues. the Sawdoctors. Floggy Molly and Talking Heads, with almost anything in between.
