New favorite cd! David Ullmann has arrived!!!
author: Karl M. Svab
I put this cd on without looking at the instrumentation lineup. Right off the bat with "Hidden" I was blown away. Tabla? Man this was differant and I was hooked from the start. I've had this recording for a couple of weeks and can't get it out of my players. I especially like driving to it. My friends all ask "Who is that?" Soon all the world will know...David Ullmann has arrived!!!

Old school and new school together at last!

Dave has to be the most unselfish guitar player on earth, only playing when the song calls for it, not when he feels like it. You can tell he has studied the styles of many great musicians and then made them his own. Great grooves from the whole group touching on both Jazz and Hip-Hop.
A great CD to listen to anytime. The artwork is pretty cool too.

A perfect view of intricate, modern melodies and complex arrangements.

I loaded this disc and found myself overlooking the parking lot that conjoins my haven and the "outside"... Hidden became a soundtrack to the obvious...
A man getting home from work, running to see his family. A Dominos Pizza Deivery and a graduate getting driven to a nearby ceremony. I feel tranquility.
I am a believer that music can unite all things in harmony...I am at peace...

Extraordinary piece of modern jazz. Highly evocative and moving.

David Ullmann's accoustic jazz (on the new CD, Hidden)comes as a welcome surprise. As a lover of traditional jazz and contemporary classical, I was hesitant about this unknown composer. Yet the strong emotional pull and the thematic overtone are reminiscent of the best of those worlds. There are echoes of Einhorn and Glass, as well as hints of Coltrane. The photo album analogy, used in the jacket copy, is particularly apt. I'd recommend this to anyone who thinks that jazz is dead, or that great performers are all over 80.
