Album Notes

Canta mi son! (Sing my song) is a festive introduction to the world of mariachi in a family oriented, kid friendly way. It is the world's first ever mariachi for kids CD- perhaps not thought of until now because it is traditionally a male dominated genre, and Juanita Ulloa is one of the ranchera field's leading female songwriters, and women tend to stay closer to family themes.

Many of the songs teach words in Spanish, such as "La carita" (the parts of the face) and "Vamos a la fiesta" (a list of -ar verbs-tocar, bailar, gozar, cantar), while matching cultural authenticity of top quality mariachi singing and playing!

This is the educational version with full Spanish pronunciation tracks for each song, and karaoke tracks for most- 80 minutes of music material! There is also a digital 30 mintue version available through Cdbaby or ITunes.
",Canta mi Son!"
the world's first Mariachi Children's Bilingual CD
by award-winning singer/composer Juanita Ulloa

JANUARY 26, 2009 SAN ANTONIO, TX - Internationally renowned, award-winning singer/composer and musician, Juanita Ulloa, produces another engaging, children's
bilingual CD. Learn Spanish through the World of Mariachi is Volume 5 in the Canta Conmigo "Sing with Me" bilingual music series. This 12 song CD was arranged and recorded in collaboration with Juan Ortiz, director of Mariachi Campanas de America and is the only one of its kind in the world!

[Canta Mi Son! CD includes 80 minutes of upbeat material, including Spanish pronunciation and karaoke tracks. The songs teach children bilingualism as well asphonetics using original song themes such asparts of the face, -ar verbs,Texas armadillos, Mexican "palomas" (doves) and "guajolotes" (turkeys) -all set to traditional mariachi "son" type rhythms. Children don't even know they are learning Spanish through the world of mariachi!

"For this CD we were able to bring together an amazing collection of songs that truly reflects the festive spirit of Mariachi, which has led to its worldwide popularity. We
are especially excited to share "Ranchera", or Mariachi music with children in the USA, and at the same time sharing it with Latin America," said Juanita Ulloa, lead singer, one of the producers and main composer.

CANTA MI SON! has already garnered a Disney iParenting Media Award for 2009!

Juanita Ulloa's ongoing commitment to artistic excellence and to exploring a wide array of themes and Latin American music and language issues is made evident through her previous CD releases that include her children's series, Canta Conmigo, Sing with Me-a five-volume NAPPA, iParenting Media (Disney), Parent's Choice and
Parent's Council award winning series. One ofthese productions, Paz y Alegria, (Peace & Joy) is a family friendly holiday collection of traditional villancicos, or holiday songs, done in a modem acoustic and danceable way. After the success of Juanita's mariachi disc "Mujeres y Mariachi", she wanted to create songs for kids that were similar to the spirited ranchera music she grew up hearing in Mexico City, or Mexico, D.F.

Educational Spanish album in the style of Mariachi
author: Shaun H. and the RadioIndy.com reviewer team
Anyone searching for a great introduction into the Spanish language should listen to Juanita Ulloa’s latest album, titled "’¡Canta mi Son!’ (Sing My Song) –Learn Spanish through the world of Mariachi!” This album is primarily geared towards young children and teachers, but is open to all ages young and old. All of the music is mariachi-based and is done very well, with some brilliant flamenco-style guitar work and lovely female vocals. “Vamos a la fiesta (Let's go to the Party)” is one of the many tracks that will make listeners want to get up and dance. “Mariachi infantil (Youth Mariachi)” is a slower song that features youth singing in the style of Mariachi. Whether you’re a teacher looking to have fun with your students or you’re in the mood for some good Mariachi music, then Juanita Ulloa’s "’¡Canta mi Son!’ (Sing My Song) –Learn Spanish through the world of Mariachi!” is your best bet.
