Album Notes

Flautist ULRIKE H. ANTON born in Graz, Austria, received her musical education in Austria, France and Great Britain.
In Paris she studied with Raymond Guiot (Conservatoire Hector Berlioz) and Jean-Loup Gregoire (Ecole National de Musique Bourg-La-Reine) and graduated with honors. Post-graduate education brought her to Manchester where she finished her flute studies with Peter Lloyd (Royal Northern College of Music), obtaining the Professional Performance Diploma. She also received a Master of Music Degree (University of Manchester) and a Ph.D. in musicology(University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and University of Vienna).

She has won several prizes, among others the first prize at the Concours Musical Regional Ile-De-France in Paris (1994), a radio broadcast at the B.B.C. Radio 2 Young Musician Competition (1996) and a live radio broadcast of a recital in Chicago's Preston Bradley Hall,awarded by the International Music Foundation/Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts (1999).

She is currently teaching at the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) in Vienna, where she is in charge of the Instrumental Performance Class. She frequently gives masterclasses at different universities in the USA and Slovakia.

She concertizes regularly as a soloist in Europe, the USA and China performing (among others)with the Christiania Chamber Orchestra Oslo and the Philharmonic Orchestra Košice/Slovakia and has been invited to several international festivals, such as the Oslo Church Music Festival,the Autumn Festival of Arts in Banská Bystrica/Slovakia and the Richard-Strauss-Festival Sillian/Austria. Her recordings include 2 CDs and the music-video Klangbilder, presented in London and at the European Parliament in Brussels.
