Album Notes

Remember the joy of finding one of those bands that were a "best kept secret" just before they exploded? Here you go again...

Perhaps you have heard about Ultrastar* from a friend.
* Or heard them on MTV [Making the Video]
* Or Film [The Only Way Out]
* Or Radio [WDXU, 88.7, Duke University, RaversEdge, Cleveland, 88.1, University of Rhode Island, WUNM, University of New Mexico, Brazil, Etc]
* Or remixes of their work [Drum+Cello, Living in the Light, Circles and Squares]
* Or on compilation CDs alongside Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Dave Gahan, Etc.

"Ultrastar* is one of those bands that makes you feel great inside again about the state of modern music today."

Comparisions range the gamut: Massive Attack, Everything but the Girl, Bjork, Alpha, Lamb, Radiohead...None of them really sum up the Ultrastar* Sound.

It is said best in this quote:
"One of those rare bands that inspires others to pick up the guitar [or sampler ] and start a band."

The Players:

Producer / Composer Chad Palmer plays quietly sophisticated guitar, dirty driving basslines and creates some refreshingly inspired beats amid a rich texture of brilliant strings and ambient soundscapes.

Dj Dig explores the depths with his sampler to take you down along surprising twists and turns. He also keeps the vinyl flying using turntablism as his main weapon of choice while he sings in one of those rare pure voices that make you swear that he crafted the words just for you.

New York Actress Elizabeth Sackett adds a dash of glamour and a softer feminine side to Ultrastar* singing songs about life, love and the ones that got away.

About Silverscreen:

Silverscreen is the debut DIY limited edition release and is very rare - only available online at Tower Records + CD Baby and frequently popping up on Ebay commanding a premium price.

If its still here when you read this .... Enjoy! We wont be pressing it again.

Lush, beautiful, very hip: everything you want in an album!

There is no doubt about it, this band is destined for greatness. They straddle a sound not unlike a more poppish Massive Attack. Very unique. Attention Major labels: Grab them while you can before someone else does...and surely will. One of the best indie artists I have found on IUMA. DN/DL Mag.

I picked up my copy of Silverscreen on Ebay after hearing about them from a friend in NY. I liked Beautiful Abstractions better but this CD still finds its way to my CD Player..mostly for the incredible song Snapdragon. Its worth the price of admission just for that track. Grab this one while you can {if its still here!} and get Beautiful Abstractions for sure.
