Umbra is a songwriter with a distinct imagination. You will not hear music reflecting pixies sliding down rainbows in the sunshine, from this artist. His verse alludes to places torn from the human spirit, and laid upon the ground for sorting. A keyboardist born of prog/classic rock influences, raised on synth-pop, Umbra exhibits a dark, textural style often compared to Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode and Pink Floyd.
Umbra began writing many years ago as a lyricist for the progressive rock trio, RealEyes. He later joined the three piece as keyboardist, adding texture and nuance. As the fourth musician in the project, his writing skills developed as he worked with some of the best musicians in the region. After his departure from RealEyes, Umbra continued to explore the musical landscape. On the fringe of pop-music, and usually left of center, Umbra music is an expedition in sonic exploration.
Umbra recently collaborated on "the Embers Rising project" with producer/engineer/musician Jeff Miller from the band Simon Apple. Vocalists Charles Phoenix and Eric Harris lent individual touches to lyrical interpretation and violinist Zef Noi$e is featured on "Stop The Time". A CD released, representing pieces from these adventures.
Channelling ahead, Umbra music delves yet deeper into uncharted territory, focusing on music for advertising, television and film. The next phase is well underway, and the gathering of data has begun in earnest. As with any journey into the edge of shadows, stand-by for new discoveries, as Umbra music is released here periodically.
Umbra music is a catalog of imagery, layered in synthetic waves, twisted organic tones and a slightly pop crust …
the language angels speak in the darkness.

Great work!

Another great creation by Umbra! Stop the time is my favorite. I could definitely hear these songs used in a movie sound track. Umbra Music is definitely unique, and sounds like nothing else.
