A look at Unbound
Unbound is a merger of four diverse people who have climbed high enough together to discover their common ground. This blend has allowed Unbound's music to be ever changing.
"The more we write the less we feel constraints as to who we are as a band," says guitarist Ryan Hunter, "not even we can predict what's next. The creative process is erratic and impulsive. Whenever I get the need to play music I don't know what I am going to play, I only understand I need to play it."
Hence the liberal title, Unbound. The music is free within itself, bridging the idea this is a number of bands wrapped into one. The only constant is what the band writes about, and that is the hardships of life. It is difficult, and change is inevitable, but the guys still find reason to be positive and hopeful.
The first impression of Ruben, Ryan, Devin, and Andre is 'sweethearts.' It is all summed up in a word, but there is something more. An underlying mystery behind their smiles, which makes it understandable why their music is what it is. Sometimes slow and melodic, but what explains the heavy hitting rock songs? Ruben explains, "Life is a balance of good and bad, it isn't always perfect. So we take the negativity and warp it to positivity to inspire people."
What it funnels down to is 'it is the best of both worlds.' Not afraid to experiment, these guys will try just about anything, culminating in their new EP: Turning Point.
"This past year has been the realization of our freedom and power in music," explains Hunter, "We have spent years writing and recording trying to uncover our identity, but I think that is the point. The only thing left to do is to play."
Unbound has a strong live show to compliment their recordings. The only difference is the humanity; live impromptu is always the best part of seeing your favorite act on stage.
"When I am playing a show all I know is the music around me and all I feel is the energy it creates," Devin reveals, "it starts with the band and ends with the crowd."

Great CD: Great Band!
author: Donna Vito
This is a great CD! I heard the first two songs on MP3.com before they went off the air, and I really like them. It's feel good music. The last song was a pleasant surprise. It's very beautiful and melodic ballad (and normally I don't like ballads much). Great CD: Great Band! I'm waiting for more music from these guys!
