Album Notes

Uncle Eddie is an icon in the Applalachian music scene. His guitar, silky vocals, intelligent, witty songwriting and wildly imaginative banjo playing make him a joy to hear. He blends elements of bluegrass, country, rock, blues, and folk into a unique and original style which he terms, “plunk rock”. Through numerous appearances on the Wheeling Jamboree, the hard core traditional bluegrass of the Short Crick Flatpickers, and his more recent cutting edge explorations with WV's premier jam band, The Recipe, “He has respected and preserved the rich musical traditions of the region while keeping it alive and evolving by taking it to new and unexpected places. ”
(Graffiti Magazine) An evening with Ed is like sitting down with an old friend. Kick off your shoes, put up your feet, and open yourself to a musical experience which will make you laugh and cry, and laugh again.

The Songs:

Never Really Loved You - A folky love song from the denial phase following a failed relationship ... but I'm not bitter.

Banjer Playin' Fool - Loosely autobiographical ... very loosely.

Dead in the Water - A blues/rock epic about those moments in all of our lives when very suddenly we realize we're totally screwed.

Plain White Rapper - or - 'In Defense of Rap Music as a Viable Form of Artistic Expression For the New Millenium' ... need I say more?

Here I Am Sober - A 70's outlaw country drinkin' ballad.

West Virginia Farm - A bittersweet eulogy for a dying way of life.

Let 'em Eat Cake - A sardonic socio-political commentary using the tuba as a sonic expression of my opinion of politicians and government.

'Rap'sody in Bluegrass - Thoughts on the state of Bluegrass music.

When Grandma Played the Tuba - A tongue in cheek look at a bygone era when family bands ruled country music.

Cruisin' for a Bruisin' - A barroom love story.
