Album Notes

Here's what the top reviewers are saying about Uncle Gus's
new CD, "Turn uo the Blues-a-lator":

Chris Gussa AKA Uncle Gus is one HOT supercharged blues machine. His guitar action is beyond the excellent stage, his lead is precise, strong, crisp and clear. Uncle Gus' musicianship is the absolute ultimate.

There's a lot of different blues genres we have available to us as listeners, BUT, there is nothing like blues done the old way. You know what I'm talking about! Hot axe-tion that you can feel in the ole heart and soul, some hot blowin' harp down and dirty that makes your goose bumps stand tall, and how about some raspy vocals that has that good ole blues growl. Well folks I have just described the talents of this one of a kind bluesman 'Uncle Gus'.

OK, lets talk about the musicianship on 'Turn Up the Blues-a-lator'. Except for Heidi Gussa doing rhythm and vocals on 'Good Morning, Mister Blues' - which she does a fantastic job, her vocals have that sweet, sensual bluesy sounds and Frank Bloise on drums, downright good job Frank..... Uncle Gus is the master mind and master of all other instruments you hear on this magnificent cd.

Every song on this cd is worth mentioning in this review - being outstanding excellent material. I want you to go and listen for yourself!

This is the best blues cd that gives you the ole feelin' blues chill I have heard in a long time. The cd brings to us superb written material combined with the excellent instrumental expertise of Uncle Gus to satisfy any blues lover over and over.

A quick Bio:
Back in 1966 in the small town (at that time) of El Cajon, California, Chris at the age of sixteen, won a contest for "Best Blues Guitarist in San Diego" "I think I won a hundred dollars and got a write up in San Diego Magazine or some such thing", says Chris. But this was the beginning of "a long strange trip" for Uncle Gus (to quote The Grateful Dead.)
Chris has been working with Legendary Cowboy Humorist, Baxter Black since about 8 years ago. Baxter, you may remember, used to be a regular on the Johnny Carson Show. Baxter and " Uncle Gus" have appeared on PBS TV together and have produced many national radio commercials.
Chris is recording lots of instrumental CDs latley, two are Latin/Flamenco style and his latest CD, "Tales of the Flamenco Surfer" includes some amazing Surf Guitar! They're all here at CD Baby so check 'em out!

Not too many people know that besides being a musician Chris Gussa (or Dr. Christopher Gussa) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbal practitioner and sees patients every day. He also has one of the largest herbal medicine sites on the web. It’s called PlantCures.com! You can also find his music at this site.

The track, Good mornin' Mr. Blues, is Mother Blues meets Louie Zappa Sweet guitar get's it stated. Mmmmmm sweeter sounding female singer. She reminds me of Mother Blues on Bourbon Street.....The old guy a little like Louie Armstrong (or Red Fox) on a hit of Frank Zappa..which ain't a bad Thang. Very Interesting. Really like the guitar players chops--right there. Kool tune--I likes it. Reviewed by: Dr_Ruff from Marietta, Georgia
