The Spirit of Hurricanes and Blues...deep in southeast Texas, there is an old tradition that still thrives today.
This recording was a labor of love...a gathering of hearts and spirits to pay homage to this tradition.
On the final weekend of January, 2006, "Uncle" John Turner, with some of his friends, gathered in the Musik Faktory Studio in Port Arthur, Texas (covered with a temporary blue plastic roof after Hurricane Rita damages) to capture this tribute. "Uncle" John Turner on Drums has performed with many renown musicians including Johnny and Edgar Winter (at Woodstock!), Jerry LaCroix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Isaac Payton Sweat, B.B.King, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, and others. Joining "Uncle" John on this CD is Paul Orta, Floyd Moore, Roger Ward, Jack Edery, Lttle Ray Ybarra, Tonky De La Pena, Paul Choate, Joe Solis, Mark Solis, Johnny Lindow, Port Arthur Red, Eddie Broussard and Tomball Houston. This CD is a a fine addition to the blues lover library. We also invite you to visit our web site www.great-recordings.com.

Pure and simple

This is a awsome CD. UNC. on the drums is a pleasure to listen to. I saw him live two years ago in Denmark with Alan Haynes and Appa Perry. He and the others musicians on this CD captures the true spirit of the south.
