The Kids Music Live Journal recently stated, "every once in a while, a children’s CD comes along that children AND their parents will want to play over and over again. That’s the case with Uncle Moondog, a CD guaranteed to utilize a CD player’s “repeat” function many times over."
Uncle Moondog is the brainchild of songwriter Mike McManus, whose band Egodog travels abroad each year performing for the U.S Department of Defense. Their tours have found them entertaining American soldiers stationed in such far away countries as Japan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Hungary.
In 2003, Mike decided to fulfill the wishes of his friends with young children, to come up with a fun CD that both kids as well as their parents would enjoy. Dipping into the wildest corners of his imagination, he invented the concept of Uncle Moondog and all his friends. The "Uncle Moondog" album delves into pop, reggae, blues, 50's doo-wop, and country. Mike wrote, performed, and sang all the songs by himself, with his wife Joan contributing some of the weird noises! The result is a 10-song album of hilariously catchy tunes that both kids as well as their parents will enjoy listening to over and over again.
The animated music video for the single "New Goldfish" has been a huge success at children's film festivals all across the country. You can see the video on YouTube by just searching on Uncle Moondog.
