This was the first CD released as part of WHFR''s local music project. It was recorded live at Henry Ford Community College on May 22, 1997 and it features 10 local Detroit blues groups.
In the spring of 1997, the staff of WHFR decided to make a difference in a new way for our support of local music: record and release our own Compact Disc! WHFR''s Blues Music Director and "Highway 61" DJ JoAnn Korczynska volunteered to work getting the artists, and Adray Appliance General Manager (and Venture Records'' President) George Bednar agreed to provide help on the business side.
It should be made VERY CLEAR, though, that NONE of these dollars are going to be spent for WHFR operating expenses -- they are all being reinvested in Uncut Detroit IV, so that more local Detroit area artists can get the attention they deserve. Is it mere coincidence that three of the ten artists on Uncut I now have a national CD release?
