Biography of Wesley A. Forte
AKA Undergrad
If you don't have GOD, please put him your life. To have a peace of mind is to have a peace with GOD. These words come from true man of GOD, Wesley Antoinne Forte. Wesley grew up in rural Kansas City, Missouri in St. James Paseo United Methodist Church. He has always loved music and started out as a part of the music group called, Too Young to be True. He performed with this group from the age of 9 to age 13 before many audiences. Growing up in the church with a God-fearing mother and many others by his side, guided him in the right direction. In the beginning of 2006 he came out with his first album entitled, Mixtape from the Heart Vol.1 and became well known to the public as the Undergrad. Not too long afterwards in May 2006, Wesley rededicated his life to the LORD JESUS CHRIST. As everyone, he struggled to keep the devil off of his back. In 2007 he made up his mind to truly turn his life around and live all out for the LORD. Undergrad is now a true man of GOD, who not only speaks the Word of the LORD, but also walks it. He witnesses to each unsaved soul that he can, including the students in his classroom. Anyone who knows Wesley A. Forte, AKA the Undergrad, will say that he is a man who is SOLD OUT FOR GOD. He's been through the fire, he's struggled through the storm, and he's made it to the mountain top and now he can say, I'm FREE!

Undergrad Free Review
author: Evan Cleaver Crictic for the Kansas City Call

UNDERGRAD: FREE. I don't listen to gospel rap, but I popped in 'Free' to see what this emerging branch of Hip-Hop has to add to the music gumbo. The album provides an opportunity for younger Christians to vibe with a message of putting God in their lives, being selective in what music they feed themselves, and having faith while seeking a Jesus filled life on earth that leads to life everlasting with the Heavenly Father. It is an escape from a genre of music that has hit a low as an art form with many musicians making songs strictly for parties. For people seeking relief and wanting to listen to lyrics, beats, and life about God, 'Free' is the album to pop in. The opening track "Press" has a smooth head nod that helps us ease into the album. The last verse on "Spill" entertains us with the best flow and lyrical dexterity on the album. "Spark Da Dark" is the albums strongest song, as it has the mission of saving souls and bringing Christ in the darker corners of a world that desperately needs him. The combination of rappers lends a great balance to the beautifully grimy beat. "Stay Confident" is a sunny song that uplifts the soul. "Just Listen" has the most appeal on the "Free" as it relaxes the listener and doesn't come across as too 'preachy' as a lot of gospel rap can do at times. The album is something to pick up as mainstream Hip-Hop is constantly disappointing, and making its listeners slaves to beats and superficial lyrics, maybe its time the world let Gospel Hip-Hop make us free.
