Album Notes

Understatement (Zach Powers) is an emcee raised in Anchorage, Alaska now based out of Tacoma, Washington. He began rapping in 2005 while living in Eugene, Oregon. After moving back to Anchorage he released his first mixtape, “The Independent Vision Mixtape.” The mixtape was well received by the Alaska music community and he began being recognized as one of the leading figures in the Anchorage hip-hop community. In 2007 he released “The Independent Vision EP” which earned praised and respect from fans and artists alike in Anchorage. From 2006-2007 Understatement hosted the very popular alternative hip-hop show “Can I Kick It” on KRUA 88.1 The Edge, Anchorage. After moving to Tacoma in 2007, Understatement formed the hip-hop band 10th & Commerce. He and the band quickly gained the respect of the Tacoma hip-hop community and began be recognized as an up and coming band in the Northwest. In 2008 Understatement released his depute album “Let it Play,” featuring production from Northwest producers Blix, Justin’s Brother and Ill-Pill and Toronto based producer, Thought-P.
