The roots of Under The Given were sown in 1995 as two childhood friends, Adam Hagen (Bass) and Jason Buck (Guitar), started their first band (“Lint”) after a day of middle school. The initial conception has spawned an 11-year collaboration between the two which has experienced trying hardships, seen passing band-mates and has heard musical fads fade away.

Through the passing of time and the loss of even more members comes the present assemble of UTG: Drummer Lyons (Vocals), Si Sabian (Drums) and Jeff Weissenborn (Guitar). Through the experience, intelligence and passion of all five individuals emerges a unique sound which transcends all that is conventional and predictable in our world of metal. Using words one may describe this sound as hybrid of upbeat, angry and driving metal riffs with psychedelic melodies, spacey ambiance and manic dynamics. This blend of emotions is meant to invoke thought and feeling through the listening experience; UTG strive for something more than what is main stream. Unusual song structures and varying time signatures are characteristics of our mantra as we aim at the unusual and endeavor to the unique.

UTG has performed over the past few years primarily in the Pacific Northwest . Known from Bellingham to Portland and from Seattle to Spokane , WA , UTG is inevitably making themselves recognized, respected and heard. UTG has performed with several well-known acts including: Hells Belles, Aiden, Domeshots, Five Foot Thick, Mynis and even Twista.

With a rigid practice and touring schedule in place, you can expect to hear more of Under The Given in the near future. Be ready, be open and don't be afraid to throw some fists and show us your horns.
