Album Notes

With timeless song writing and an explosive live show, underwhelmed is quickly becoming a driving force in today's thriving alternative/hard rock music scene. After 4 years of carefully crafting their music and periodically taking it out of the garage, the band would leave audiences shaken and stirred from a fresh new approach to rock music.

Underwhelmed's inception began with the fusion of good friends, vocalist Chris Amplo and songwriter/guitar player, Paul Boyle. Seeking musicians who envisioned an altruistic, driving rock band, the pair ran into twin brothers Mike, bass, and Chris Russo, drums, whose indescribable chemistry set the tone for the band's first CD release.

Underwhelmed's sound captures some of the best moments of bands like U2, Pearl Jam and Live. With lyrics based on self-revelation and deep rooted inner struggle, the music is seemingly loud, commanding, and anthemic, without ever being pandering or overwrought. Giving listeners the complete package, songs like 'Reachin' and 'Devoted' push and pull at you from the inside; fast and hard driving. Other featured tracks like 'Reveal' unveil a delicate, softer side of Chris' voice, while 'Headstrong' hooks you in with its signature guitar sound and infectious chorus. With dues paid and lessons learned, underwhelmed's strongest contribution is their high-energy live performance. Night after night, charismatic vocalist Chris Amplo relentlessly delivers a passionate, no holds barred performance that grips the audience. Powering the songs is the bands unforgettable rhythm section. Together, underwhelmed delivers an extraordinary set of songs based on raw energy and an emotional exchanged between the band and its audience.

"pure, unadulterated emotion has always been an important thing to me in a song...I always loved performences where the artist boarders hysterics" say frontman Chris Amplo.

Since the release of their CD, AND NOW I CAN SEE, produced by Scott Kempner of the Dictators and released independently in May of 2002, underwhelmed has had 2 tracks included on the soundtrack to Winstar Pictures' feature film, ALL SAINTS DAY™, including 'Devoted' and an unreleased song called 'Stare'. Growing popularity has landed the band opening spots for multi-platinum musicians like Columbia recording artists, Sponge, as well as headlining spots of their own in some of the area's largest venues.

'...The first time I saw you I was blown away. (At L'Amours, with Sponge)I got your cd...and I can't stop listening...' Dorie - Elmont, NY

Underwhelmed is a young, energetic band with direction and confidence. Steering clear of trends and musical mediocrity, the band stays true to their music while painting a story of pain and aggression in the face of their personal triumph and persistence. The members' relationships with each other are as solid as the music, all with the hopes their overshadowed tales will one day reach national acclaim. Having been influenced by some of the most successful acts of yesterday and today, underwhelmed is certainly ready to dig its niche in today's popular music market. The band debut album AND NOW I CAN SEE is quickly moving and available here at CDBABY.com. This band made me go back to softer rock again...
author: Paul Boyle's cousin
When I first heard of my cousin's band putting out their first album I didn't think I'd like it at all. Underwhelmed has calmed the screaming metal head in me and created a sound all their own that I always enjoy listening to. Silhouette is one of many songs that can never be played out (not to mention the newer stuff the band is coming out with) I'll always be listening to my Children of Bodom Fear Factory Tristania Nine Inch Nails etc. but Underwhelmed has found a place in my favorites list.

Violent Rock
author: Rob Staubber
The music on the Cd was well written. Good Catchy guitar hooks such as Devoted and epecially Monster which could have been easily mistaken for a Pearl Jam tune. Pearl Jam should be shot for not coming up with something like this after Ten. The drums are Pulsating and Violent. Chris Russo delivers the intensity of pounding those skins and awesome clicking sounds like Devoted and Silhoutte. The newer stuff I've heard outside of the album are even better.Headstrong has a hook that reminds me of Aerosmith.Reveal is something you can sing along too and it's nicely arranged. Now back to the album, their slower songs like Carry on and Listen provide a nice relaxation moment on the album. Chris Amplo belts out those Vocal Chords like I haven't heard in ages. He reminds me of Eddie Veder but I can understand Amplo more. The worst song I must say was defintiely Not to Touch the Earth. Circus music at it's best. The Guitars were a tad dry I thought but good, simple and to the point. These guys have what it takes to make it. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
