The UnMutuals are: Al the Bum (Swacker) on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dick Bush (Jeff Hess) on bass and vocals, Dr. Raydon (Steve Dachroeden)on drums and vocals, and Billy Shitner (Mark Reynolds) on lead guitar and vocals.
In 2002 a bar called the Way Out Club in St. Louis wanted to reunite the three members of Drunkabilly to play an anniversary of the bar. Those Members being Al Swacker, Ray Johnson and Jeff Hess. Jeff would only do it if he could play bass instead of drums so thet contacted Steve Dachroeden who was more than happy to join. In the midst of relearning the songs, the four started writing new stuff and decided to keep the lineup after the Way Out show. They became the Christ Punchers.
A small following quickly developed. at the end of the summer, Ray went on vacation never to return. The remaining three tried it as a trio but it did not work. They quickly recruited Mark Reynolds of Freud's Mom to play guitar. A perfect addition. The band then became the UnMutuals after two other bands in the area started going by the Christ Punchers as well. Jeff Hess thought of the name because he is a long time fan of th Prisoner. Not to mention they are rather unmutual towards politics, religion, pop music, etc...
Over the past few years the band has played several local shows, toured with the Dead Kennedys, opened for Bad Religion, Angry Samoans, Dickies, DOA, Vibrators, Effigies, recorded in Cleveland with Rob Stevens of 100,000 Leagues Under my Nutsack and Frank of Filter, and recorded in St. Louis at Defective music with Jason Hilliard. The album is finally out and they are hoping for an upcoming national tour. Enjoy the album.
Expect the new album, Tulsa Pass, recorded, mastered, and mixed by Stephen Egerton of All/Descendents to be out soon.
