Album Notes

Recorded back in the time before auto-tune and digital files, big guitars and soaring vocals carry the listener on an artistic journey through the turmoil of the early 2000's as represented by 4 young men living in and around NYC. Songs like Half-Life, Little Ton Stars (written about the Columbine, CO attack) and Flashflood flex the band's more abstract creative muscles while Fashion to Ashes, Monotony and Don't Blink bring out the pop side of the band. Playing regularly in NYC just after the Strokes broke out and right before Interpol took off, Unspun were courted by many industry heavies including Jeff Kwatinetz, Mike Peer and Danny Goldberg before signing with Avery Lipman and Universal Records.

Band members are John Smith (vox and guitars), Rick Dobbelaer (guitars, vox), Christian Celaya (bass and vox) and Ryan Cavan (drums) and John Joyce (drums on Fashion to Ashes). The album was recorded and mixed by Doug Oberkircher (Dream Theater) and Steve Regina (Goo Goo Dolls, Jonatha Brooke) at Bear Tracks studios and Little Bear studios in Suffern, NY. Souvenir was produced by Rick Dobbelaer.
