Album Notes

Uncovered Volume 1 is a fan-funded covers album. This volume includes songs written between 1980 and 1995, most of which Unwoman made a special attachment to in her childhood or adolescence. Styles vary widely. Songs pay tribute to the original performances without attempting to emulate them.

Irina Xara writes:

"Mulkey has done her best to make Uncovered, Vol. 1 a multidimensional experience for her fans. She provides not only a digitally downloadable version of the album for purchase on her site but also the option to purchase a physical album. One can also peruse the homepage of her website for a playlist of all the original songs by the original artists. This allows younger fans who might not have heard some of the originals to listen for reference. In a clever “cover of a cover” pun, the album cover design of Uncovered, Vol.1 is a painting by Suzanne Forbes inspired by the artwork on Nick Cave’s 1994 album Let Love In."

An outstanding collection of cover titles. Unwoman has made each track her own in style and sentiment, while retaining the character that made them so good in the first place. If you're a fan of cello, '80s music or interesting covers, then I'm quite happy to recommend this album.
