Album Notes

Philadelphia is currently whelping an eclectic and hard-working acoustic rock band whose live shows are not to be missed. Reed Kendall, founder of Up the Chain, has been recording original music since before his voice dropped, performed at The Point at age 13 and released a full-length solo album while still in high school. After living on the road playing colleges along the east coast, as well as six months spent in New Zealand, Kendall returned to hometown Philadelphia in 2008, immersing himself in a rich, surging community of musicians and launching his new band, Up the Chain. Kendall cites Dave Matthews, Bright Eyes, Amos Lee and Jack Johnson as his biggest influences and is backed by a rotating cast of some of Philly's best musicians. A four song demo (2008) and a full-length live record (2009) quickly got local airplay and garnered opening spots with Lyle Lovett, Jeffrey Gaines and America at the Kimmel Center and Keswick Theatre. A full-length studio record, produced by Barrie Maguire (Natalie Merchant, Amos Lee, The Wallflowers), is to be released in 2011.
