Great Grooves + Talented Soloists = 1 Tasty CD
author: Andy Nelson, musician
Take a lesson in funk and taste from saxophonist Bill Jordan: add 2 simple notes to the end of the infamous I Feel Good horn lick, and papa's got a brand new groove. Such are the delightful surprises on this very hip and listenable CD. Rhythm section Kies and Swanson provide ample ground-cover for the tight interaction of the whole group, notably on Have I Told You Lately That I Love You, as well as I Feel Good and At Last. Also to note on At Last is Jordan's superb tenor solo: it's a dynamic ride that will bring to mind the best of any live jazz you've heard. Mike Barden's piano soloing on Autumn Leaves is also remarkable for its beautiful colors and phrasing, and wife Monica Barden provides admirable homage as well as originality to the vocal lines she covers on this eclectic collection of tunes. This CD makes a great gift for anyone who appreciates jazz-infused tunes done in a very tasteful style! Highly recommended.

Eclectic is the word...twelve classic tunes, covered wonderfully!
author: Joel Whitburn, Billboard Chart Historian & Author
"Coverage" correctly states the contents of Mike Barden's latest album. Twelve classic tunes, covered wonderfully by Barden's light jazz trio. Eclectic is the word. From Thelonious Monk's Grammy Hall of Fame 1948 jazz instrumental "'Round Midnight", to the Nat King Cole Trio's most renowned jazz/R&B theme "Route 66", to Steely Dan's 1974 jazz-rock anthem "Rikki Don't Lost That Number", the trio's cover versions stand-up remarkably well. "Moondance", Van Morrison's all-time great song, is probably the best produced song on the album, with an outstanding sax solo by Bill Jordan and a jazzy, light, breezy vocal by Mike's wife, Monica.
Barden's trio is in fine form and I highly recommend that pop, jazz and R&B fans check this one out.
