Urban Street Level's (USL) new project "LIVE 2" uplifts your soul and fortifies your Spirit with a compelling and powerful urban 'funk' contemporary sound. USL is a contemporary group, which utilizes a blend of unique up to date beats and old school grooves that will leave you in awe and wanting more. These sounds can be heard on the "LIVE 2" double CD's. The "LIVE 2" project captures all the energy of the live performance and more. "LIVE 2" has a fusion of 70's funky bass rifts and 21st century hip-hop flavor that youth are feeling. They provide all the genres from jazz interludes to funkadelic tones to Caribbean rhythms to R&B and Hip-Hop flava's to melodic ballads. Elwood Jones arranged nearly all the songs and they represent their own unique brand. This project features special artists, such as: St. Thomas native, Jumaine Jones on a Caribbean tone "Lord, I Lift Your Name", Hip-Hop Rapper, EnYaPhace on this high energetic rhythm "Let The Walls Fall Down" and adlibs by Carmen on this melodic tone "I Could Sing Of Your Love". You will hear ballads from the lead singer, Betty Jones on songs, Breathe, This Is The Air I Breathe, Open The Eyes Of My Heart and Step By Step. In 1991, Elwood Jones and his wife Betty founded Urban Street Level. Sherrie Jones joined USL in 1997. The name Urban Street Level was chosen to capture the essence of the ministry. USL takes the gospel to the streets of rural, urban and suburban areas throughout the country. Elwood's sincere heart for seeking and leading lost young people to Christ has led his desire to form the music ministry in a way that would make the gospel acceptable and received by youth and young adults in urban communities across the country. He was determined that a music ministry which utilizes a blend of hip-hop and R&B sounds, which could bridge a cross cultural gap, would be the most effective way to accomplish his goal. USL inspires people of all ages in praise and worship. Urban Street Level has ministered in music with artists, such as: Angelo & Veronica, Bob Carlisle, Bruce Carroll, Clear, Cross Movement, Darryl Coley, Dave Parker, DII, DOC, Fred Hammond, Gritz, John P. Kee, Kelly Williams, Marvin Sapp, Mike E., Nancy Jackson, Newsboys, Nujoi, Salvador, Shades of Blue, Submission Band, Sup-The Chemist, Tammy Trent, Tommy Walker, Troy Johnson, and many others. Urban Street Level has toured over 50 cities in the United States and their music can be heard across the country. Elwood and his wife Betty presently reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. They have been ministering together in the music ministry for over 15 years. Elwood is the Director of Music at Zion Church, located in Largo, Maryland, under the leadership of Keith A.
