Album Notes
ONE STEADY ROLL is the third release for New England band URSULA GEORGE on the Tommytiger label, and features an upbeat selection of tunes that pay homage to the artists of the pre-war "Black Vaudeville."

Though short lived, African-american Vaudeville (c. 1900-1930) was highly influential to the popular music that followed. Here traditional blues morphed into jazz, as the risque works of the schooled jazz composers were performed by jazz band fronted by glamorous female blues singers. While its origins were in the segregated black theaters of the south, and it was often a very difficult living for the artists of the touring circuits, this music represented a road to the mainstream for many of these remarkable artists.

ONE STEADY ROLL also features the original track "Blues for Honeyboy," penned by Lori Urso and Marty Richards in tribute to the late, great Delta bluesman David Honeyboy Edwards. The tune features the legendary Jon Butcher on rhythm and slide guitar.

Lori Urso - Vocals; Guitar, tracks 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, & 8
