Album Notes

"Most of the tunes on this disc are around the 10-minute mark, but don't expect a jazz-school noodlefest. Instead, the band deals primarily in mid-tempo rock songs that start off hushed but spiral into incendiary guitar freakouts...User Shorty Patent Co. are masters of the slow burn."
- Casey Rea, Seven Days

"This five piece has patience, confidence and dedication to the material...It's a well thought-out record."
- Bryan Michael Washburn, State of Mind

"Depart So Slow is not a potpourri of bite-sized pop fare -- it features large dollops of chill, soulful guitar preaching and rich vocals."
- Maria Varmazis, The Valley Advocate

"Moody grooves merge with raw, gradually building guitar melodies and Taylor's often hushed vocal work in lengthy tunes that combine a vintage rock vibe with a modern edge and dreamlike sensibility in hypnotic soundscapes that can take listeners on mesmerizing rides."
- Tom Huntington, The Times Argus

User Shorty Patent Co. is/was a collective noise. Originally based out of Burlington, Vermont, the band is lead by the songwriting, singing and guitar playing of Lancaster, Pennsylvania native Scott Taylor. User Shorty is the most recent fruition of Taylor's musical outlets and features a revolving door of uniquely talented musicians. Forged in 2003, the band has gone through several line-up changes but have remained consistent in their always-incendiary live performances. This is their first official release, recorded live (and without overdubs) by themselves and featuring members of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
