THE CRITICS AGREE!

"Why do they even live in Utah? The songs show they have no respect for the state or anyone in it. If they really think we're such morons, they should move someplace where 'sophisticated liberals' of this kind fit in better." Rod Decker, KUTV News

"We now know the source of moral decline in Utah. Maybe the world is welcome here, but NOT the Sons-in-Law of the DUP. Their music is an abomination. Patriarchs need to keep this material away from wives and children." Dr. Scott Leckman, former candidate for U.S. Senate

Olympvs Rex - LYRIC by Ken Shaw

French visitors during the 2002 SLC Winter Games devoured Olympvs Rex in droves, hailing it as "tres subversive". The Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the bizarre culture and politics of Utah, all fall under the satirical scrutiny of the Sons-in-Law, a seditious band of brothers dedicated to shedding comic light on their own homestead. Don't forget to listen to "Cowboys, Loving Cowboys", which is widely purported to have inspired the Oscar-winning "Brokeback Mountain".

Olympvs Rex - MUSIC by Ken Shaw

Anchored by celebrated producer and multi-instrumentalist Bernie Larsen of spinoutrecords.com in Los Angeles, the music of Olympvs Rex defies easy categorization. Rex Flinner brings not only Ry Cooder's Fender Stratocaster (literally!) but a host of traditional bluegrass instruments. It's Cajun, it's Bavarian, it's Honky Tonk, it's Beatle-esque, it's Rockabilly, it's a simple waltz. It's a timeless bit of recent history. It's Olympvs Rex. Roar.

REVIEWS

witty lyrical turns and impeccable musicianship
author: Salt Lake City Weekly
Satirical bluegrass-folk devotional under the Sons-in-Law moniker out of fear of righteous retaliation (oops, so much for anonymity). Nary a rock in the Zion xeriscape is left unturned as the boys take on polygamy, Utah teachers, gay cowboys, the Grand Staircase, and a laundry list of local politicos. Get one before they all "mysteriously" disappear.

funny and fearless
author: Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers
A sharp-witted and subversive collection of songs about--take note, Britney and Eminem--the culture and politics of Utah. But you don't have to live next to Idaho to appreciate "The Waltz", complete with cheesy German accent.

Love it! I've had a lot of experience with... Utah.. and the truth is out. Freedom of speech reigns! some people get stuck in time warps, (environmental destruction, sexism, patriarchy, oppression, censorship, violence against women, refusing to teach the truths of history and western man's destruction) are totally clueless as to how the REAL world operates. this is what it's like to be one of the few who understands that! 150 stars if I could give it!
