Olympvs Rex - LYRIC by Ken Shaw

French visitors during the 2002 SLC Winter Games devoured Olympvs Rex in droves, hailing it as "tres subversive". The Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the bizarre culture and politics of Utah, all fall under the satirical scrutiny of the Sons-in-Law, a seditious band of brothers dedicated to shedding comic light on their own homestead. Don't forget to listen to "Cowboys, Loving Cowboys", which is widely purported to have inspired the Oscar-winning "Brokeback Mountain".

Anchored by celebrated producer and multi-instrumentalist Bernie Larsen of spinoutrecords.com in Los Angeles, the music of Olympvs Rex defies easy categorization. Rex Flinner brings not only Ry Cooder's Fender Stratocaster (literally!) but a host of traditional bluegrass instruments. It's Cajun, it's Bavarian, it's Honky Tonk, it's Beatle-esque, it's Rockabilly, it's a simple waltz. It's a timeless bit of recent history. It's Olympvs Rex. Roar.
