Album Notes

THE EARLY REVIEWS ARE ALREADY IN!

"The true Daughters of the Utah Pioneers would wet their bloomers if they heard this prattle." Babs Delay, KRCL 90.9 FM

"We now know the source of moral decline in Utah. Maybe the world is welcome here, but NOT the Sons-in-Law of the DUP. Their music is an abomination. Patriarchs need to keep this material away from wives and children." Dr. Scott Leckman, former candidate for U.S. Senate

=========================

NEOKHAN - LYRIC by Ken Shaw

Science, religion, culture, politics--no subject is too sacred to be spared the satirical sword of the Sons-in-Law of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Whereas their debut album, OLYMPVS REX (2001), skewered Utah in general and the 2002 SLC Olympics in particular, this time the boys have gone national. Even George W. Bush makes an appearance in this tragic comedy of the new century--reminding many of the great Tom Lehrer at his most subversive.

NEOKHAN - MUSIC by Rex Flinner and Ken Shaw

Thanks to the inspired instrumental virtuosity of co-writer and producer Rex Flinner, the music of NEOKHAN spans the pantheon of American music--from rockabilly to 60's retro-pop to jazz. Although many of the string sounds are from the bluegrass world, Bill Monroe would not recognize them on this genre-bending album. Even the banjo is given new life as a killer rock-and-roll lead instrument. With support from the axis of the willing (or is it the coalition of evil?), NEOKHAN intends to rule!

REVIEWS

truly clever lyrics and catchiness
author: Salt Lake City Weekly
TSI-LotDotUP (that's how the kids are acronym-ing it on the street) are one of those bands that are whacked out in a way that only living in Utah can take credit for. Vocalist Ghengis Khen uses bedtime, lullaby-style to sing about topics as diverse as Lewis and Clark to the carpool lane (that's right) to good-natured topical Geoge W. Bush burns...truly clever lyrics...even a guest appearance from local news superstar Rod Decker.
