Album Notes

Eric Valentine is rapidly emerging as a noted musician in contemporary jazz circles. This respected drummer and versatile composer / multi-instrumentalist has forged his skills into the realm of arranger, engineer & producer on his first release, Eric Valentine's Jazz Impressions.

Audiences world-wide have enjoyed the magical quality of Eric's musicianship, having performed with superstar artists Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Regina Bell, Chris Botti, Yolanda Adams, William Becton and Darryl Coley.Eric has served as musical director and band leader for famed smooth jazz/R&B artist, Jonathan Butler and was seen this summer with the Josh Groban tour drumming for top-selling smooth jazz artist Mindi Abair.

A native of Washington DC, Eric was raised in a household steeped with musical tradition. The training he received within the Valentine family's own gospel group led by parents Herbert and Lillie; gave Eric his life-long passion for music.

Eric picked up a set of drumsticks at age five. At the tender age of seven, he performed his first solo in church. He went on to study music at the University of the District of Columbia. Upon graduation, Eric began his professional career performing with R&B songstress, Jean Carne.

"Eric Valentine's Jazz Impressions" is a collection of songs that takes the listener on an intriguing journey through jazz. From the energetic sounds of cut # 8, "The House Special", the swinging tones of #4, "The 11th Hour" or relax with the smooth track # 10, "Green Tea" whatever your mood, this CD satisfies any musical palette.
