“Guitars of Hawaii Today” is a sampling of the musicians currently in Hawaii’s music scene. The artists who performed on this CD are the same ones you’ll see when you stop by local shows, restaurants and nightclubs. But these artists are not simply guitar players. This production is a unique opportunity to feature artists with a multitude of talents. Guitars of Hawaii Today highlights composers who have created songs for other local artists to record, as well as producers who have their own projects in local record stores.

For many years these artists have worked in the recording studios as background studio musicians, creating the songs that have become Hawaii’s local standards and trademarks. From acoustic guitar backgrounds to electric guitar solos and on to lap steel guitar string lines, these fine musicians can be heard on musical track for movies, television and commercials. Thanks to the multitude of Hawaii-based television show, some of these artists have had the opportunity to produce and play Hawaii’s surf guitar sounds, sharing Hawaii’s surf music around the world.

It’s time to put these talented individuals in the limelight. Guitars of Hawaii today is the first CD recording to feature them not only on background guitars and the lead solo, but playing the lead melody as well. Each artist has selected the song which best represents his personal talent, influence and style. Has also won the Hawaii Music Awards for most popular compilation album.
