At 24 years old, Valerie McQueen has had a rich and varied life that has resulted in an ability to observe through a kaleidoscope of experience. Her music reflects the diversity and depth that she has known--and made her own.

Originally a beach girl, her parents provided her and her brother a chance to grow up in a small rural town. In Norton, Virginia, she found herself surrounded by soup beans, cornbread, and family.
