notes

Focused, driven, and ahead of her time, this preteen powerhouse with a knack for melody, comes bursting onto the upstate area music scene. The June 2005 release "Chords & Chaos" packs a pop punch with an edgy side of rock mixed in for good measure. With lead guitar and arrangements by local favorite Brian Kaplan of the Brian Kaplan Band, and some serious bass lines from long time pro Steven Clyde of the Rumdummies, this CD leaves you wanting more. Kevin Webb, Valerie's Dad, rounds out the recordings with precision percussion for a total package of listening pleasure.

Valerie's insightful lyrics transcend age boundaries that typically box the teen queens in. The radio friendly tunes, produced by Chris Fisher (former bandleader of Conehead Buddha) for Easter Island Productions, are causing a buzz and earning the young performer kudos from her local musical adult peers.

"Valerie Webb, who goes by the mono-moniker of Valerie, has been writing and performing her original music for almost two years now, and she's celebrating the release of her debut CD, "Chords & Chaos," with a performance at 7 tonight at Professor Java's Coffee Sanctuary in Colonie. It's a smart, sharp collection of seven pop'n'rock tunes that display considerable range and talent. Produced by former Conehead Buddha bandleader Chris Fisher, the disc also features guitarist Brian Kaplan (of The Brian Kaplan Band), bassist Steven Clyde (of Rumdummies) and Kevin Webb (of Brothers of Intention). Oh yeah, did I mention that Valerie is only 12 years old? Verrrry impressive."

"Chords and Chaos" scored the best album in my book on the local front for 2005

  • Valerie Webb rocks on Chords and Chaos
    author: Tobias

Valerie Webb shines brightly on Chords and Chaos. This is an album that rocks. Up first you have Another Girl which starts off very relaxing and then hits you with this intensity. Then comes ultra hot rocking track Used which could break all kinds of records because it is that good. It is a song that should be played on radio stations all across the country. Also on the record is upbeat charmer Halls of Middle School. There is something special that drives this record. It is an amazing disc. I didn't want this album to end I wanted there to be more. It leaves you hanging like what will the next record coming up ahead be like.
