I was looking...

for Valencia, but came across these guys. I did the usual: check out the myspace, some pics, some songs. At the risk of sounding like a dude-bro... Dude. Bro. There is a LOT of music coming out of these two guys.
I like supporting the local guys if I like a song, since Lil Wayne doesn't need a bigger jet or tenth jacuzzi. I do my part to fill indie bands' vans with a few gallons of gas for a gig.
For my money, the song "It's Ordinary" alone is worth shelling out a few bailout bucks for this album. The other songs are pretty solid too. Usually if I like three songs I'll buy a record, Well, I liked five. I bought it, and I'm happy I did. It's still growing on me.
The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they're not dead and British.

On Our Own
author: Lina
"On Our Own" is an album filled with heart-felt lyrics and beautiful melodies. The songs come out of the genius mind of a writer who at such a young age has apparently experienced more than his share of challenges in life, challenges we can all relate to in our own lives. Although the songs are based on difficult life-experiences, there is a ray of hope in each song, a reminder that life is a journey and not a destination and it is the journey that makes us grow rich in our experiences. The title song "On Our Own" is about making one's way into the world and trying to find a place within one's moral compass. "You Lead A Life..." is about overcoming obstacles, but persevering, moving forward, and never giving up on the dream. "Sing Me a Story" is one of my favorites for it reminds me of how a sweet song can temporarily soothe one and bring hope of a new promise. "Bring Back the Party" is also a favorite because it is about making light of things, dancing through the tough times, and riding out the storm with music and fun. " It's Ordinary" is the most prolific song on the album, expressing the raw truth that life is full of ups and downs but that to some degree that is an ordinary feeling we all experience at different times in life. The lyrics reflect that we are not alone and that sadness, loneliness, and fear are emotions that are natural and temporary in the journey of life. The greatest gift this album gives us is the ability to relate to all our emotions with dignity and hope. This two-piece band packs a big sound and is awesome to see at live performances. They are truly unique and in a genre of their own, always evolving musically. Add this album to your collection of music. You will be sure to want to catch all their shows when they are in town. Keep your eye on this band!
