“All is Lost Tonight” is the new EP from the ever-evolving Valter. Paul Pitkin, the man behind the band, again played all the instruments but drums, just like in Valter’s previous release, “Spaces of Extraordinary Size.” On this outing, Pitkin reunites with former Anabret drummer Paul Michaels, who brings his signature passion to the percussion on the lead single, “All is Lost Tonight.” The other two songs, “Free Fall” and “Is the Day Beyond the Night”, bring former Catheters drummer Dave Brozowski into the mix, opening up the drums to new levels of expansiveness and power. Once again mixed at Seattle’s London Bridge Studios with Jonathon Plum, the “All is Lost Tonight” EP brings Valter to new heights of songwriting and performance, while always maintaining Pitkin’s roots in ambient, alternative music.
