VANARmenya

I bought this from curiosity as well as with a cousin with Armenian ties in mind. It's great fun, home grown and interesting.

Pretty good

Different. Not something you hear alot. Takes a couple of listens to get used to but I liked it. 2 of the songs sound weird--not sure if it was on purpose or not.

I LOVED the COVER and a few of the COVER SONGS, not crazy about all but most are
author: Talar Frankian
I loved the LYRICS that came with it. Nice essays by the producer, too. There are about THREE (3) songs on it I will just say are not so good and should have been deleted..."listenable" and "interestingly done,"
two I like alot but the music sounds kind of like cassette quality, and three (3) that are simply awesome, (one in ENGLISH!) and 9 or 10 I like alot. There are 22 songs if you count the VIDEOs with it.
I like the videos with it, too, especially (namely) the Seta Garibian video. (Seda Garibyan ?)
The reading material (the book on the Mongol invasions of Armenia) I have not had time to read, but appears to be written by a Professor Bedrosian PhD (who I have never heard of)! I have also never heard of a music CD coming with a "BOOK," but then this is an unusual poject. It was worth it. I bought 2 under the $5 deal patriotic/middle eastern section and am giving one as a gift. It is on sale at Parseghian for $15!

Excellent and varied
author: Greg Poladian
There is nothing like it. It is both simple and complex.
The variety of sound sis astounding. I finally bought one
from TOWER records, after listening daily to the revolutionary songs. This person or group did not get directions from Karnig Sarkissian or George Tutunjian: they seem to have either gone out on their own, or researched it. The songs sound original-style, and my grandmother says they are perfectly sung, especaially the songs about "VAN."
It has awesome files with it--complete lyrics to some rare songs. Forgotten music comes alive in VANArmenya. Bravo to whoever did this.
