Listening to this CD and absorbing it, in its entirety (especially the arrangements) reveal a dark silky lining. The words and sound are like the reflective nature of water, with memory and monsters lurking just beneath the surface.

REVIEWS

Vance Borland's songs tend to grow on you, and especially his voice, which is very deep and rich, and which has just the right touch of grittiness. I especially like the song: The Last Time, with its folk-rock sound with a hint of country. He sings straight from the heart and the refrain lyrics are great: "... Is the last time ever I touched you really the last? Is the last time ever I kissed you really the last? ..." I also really like the song: Live Like We Believe (which is the title song of his CD). That song has a very nice sustained-guitar sound, with a good bass and beat, and the lyrics are both poetic and thoughtful: "...Who are you fooling, only yourself, that's what she said. There's smoke in the air; smoke and mirrors everywhere. Wish I couldn't see the difference; I do..." Check out his album! -- Michael Dyer (singer/songwriter, MichaelDyerMusic.com)
