Album Notes

The JavaMusiK Label - A coffeehouse for your spirit...

His music has been described as "a blending of classical, jazz and rock influences smoothed over with a peaceful touch of soul."

Sometimes described as George Winston meets Elton John, Jeff Van Devender plays piano in such a way that the listener can easily loose touch with reality as the colorful melodies lead to another place & time....

With piano-based originals and a featured arrangement of Simple Gifts, this debut cd showcases an exciting, yet relaxing form of musicianship. Van Devender's genuine style shines with each musical offering on Ascend.

If you are looking for a cd which will lift your spirits while maintaining an atmosphere of elegence, give Ascend a try. Be sure to check out the newest release - Bending Chords, also on JavaMusiK!

This is very reflective music. It would be my favorite. But the great thing is the distinctive difference between both cd's offered here by example. Either one accomplished it's goal in my opinion. They showcase the artist as a player who is not afraid to share his emotion or his ideas. Very musical and tasteful. Horizons Beyond is brilliant. Why didn't I just learn to play the piano instead of the guitar?
