Album Notes

Stuck in the airport in Vegas at 2 AM waiting for a red eye flight that never left the ground due to bad weather back home, I started thinking about where I was, where I was going and mostly where I came from, originally that is.

Being from a small town in Illinois, Breese, the words just poured out onto whatever scratch pieces of paper I could find laying around the empty seats at the terminal. The song "Breese to the Blues" got me through the night.

Returning home the next day my daughter Lauren, who is a very talented singer/songwriter helped me work out the music. She and I had written a number of songs already, Rock with a blues/R&B/Jazz flavor, with story telling lyrics about our own lives, our friends and family, the places we've lived and been to etc. always served us well.

This CD came together with the help of some of St Louis, Mo. and Metro East Illinois' best musicians. People like Glen Harris, Steve Strayhorn, David Kressig, Evan Marien, Phil Warnecke and Eric Keener to name a few. All veterans with the exception of the youthful bassist Evan Marien who you can catch at www.evanmarien.com for his special style of jazz fusion bass instrumetal work. It's very strong! Lastly, the beautiful vocals of Lauren Vander Pluym ad a touch of class that would other wise be missing.

The CD is dedicated to two of our good friends that both past in the last year and a half, Bassist Les Laux and Drummer Vern Phillips.

Enjoy!

The musicianship is masterful. The male vocals are stylish and the female vocals are soulful. The straightforward lyrics are quite refreshing FJP
