A darker beach party
author: Bruno Pietoso
When I listen to surf records, unfortunately there's not enough tunes that truly explores the potential of the surf ballad or the surf "ambiance" - it's like Ennio Morricone encounters reverb and a bit of mescal. It's been a long time since I've come across an album - you know, one whole album that you can sit down and listen to and every time I listen to it I discover a new track that interests me and makes me want to listen to the whole thing over and over. I must say La Planche is possibly one of the most beautiful melodies I've heard in a long time. I only wish they could come out with more stuff...
Come on Geoff and Garry- hurry up mates!

A Treasure
author: Robert Cumbow
This album is a masterpiece, an absolute treasure that lovers of the surf guitar sound cannot afford to miss. "La Planche" and "Dinner with Robert" are nothing short of brilliant, and they get better with every listen. You won't quickly tire of this album. More likely, you'll play it over and over, and not be able to listen to anything else for several days; and after that, you'll find yourself coming back to it again and again. For my ear, the inclusion of the half-country/half-Hawaiian "Rope'n Pineapples" was a bit of a misstep, but still adds an odd comic touch to an otherwise haunting, brooding album. If you thought everything that could be done with the surf sound had been done already, this album is a revelation--and an essential for any serious collector.
