VANEK is an alternative rock band from Oak Ridges, Ontario Canada.

In 1999, Mark Pezzelato began to create and record music for Vanek. Since those early beginnings, he has written over 100 songs, played all instruments (drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals) on 3 full length albums; "Vanek Self-titled Debut", "Open Arms (Acoustic Ablum)", and "Beyond Recognition" and played over 30 shows. The development of Vanek has seen many changes, one of those is becoming... a full 5 piece band including two drummers. Noteably, 2009, was a monumental year for Vanek with much growth and success happening very rapidly.

he main influence for Vanek's music is Pearl Jam. The musical sound of Vanek is a combination of Neil Young, Frank Sinatra, and early Arctic Monkeys. It is from early days in 1918 when Jesse Vanek opened a corner store in Oak Ridges, Ontario. With the help of her family, Jesse went on to operate a summer camp for kids on Lake Wilcox. It is from this mission of love and respect that the music of Vanek lives.
