Album Notes

"Polyglot" is a collection of original music written by Portland musician/composer Mike Van Liew. It features an eclectic mix of tunes, with elements of jazz, blues, klezmer, latin, gospel, and classical music. There are highly arranged ensemble sections, as well as plenty of improvised soloing. The musicians assembled for the project are:
Kirt Peterson - alto and soprano sax,
Jeff Homan - tenor sax and flute,
Farnell Newton - trumpet,
Tom Hill - trombone,
Rob Lewis - vibes and xylophone,
John Butler - guitar,
Mike Van Liew - piano,
Skip Elliot Bowman - bass, and
Reinhardt Melz - drums.
"Polyglot" was recorded in December 2004 at Secret Studios in Portland, Oregon, by engineer Jim Williams.
