Album Notes

The Vinal venue String band are songwriters Sean Staples, Ry Cavanaugh and Kris Delmhorst. never really meant to be a commercial venture, these three began playing bluegrass and old-timey music together just for fun. This turned into a regular weekly gig at an irish pub...which then turned into this live CD. All of the fun, clinking glasses and great songs make this CD a pleasure to listen to. Covering songs from Gillian Welch to Lester Flatt and Bill Monroe to Son Volt, these three meld genres and come out with a great album.

CD Baby let us hear bits of the songs and there wasn't one I didn't like...gorgeous harmonies, comraderie, three folks who truly enjoyed playing together. I listen over and over and each time I hear something new. Thanks for making this one available.

An unexpected gem - loose, sweet, and warm

I bought this to be a Kris Delmhorst 'completist,' but was I surprised at how much I liked the CD. Kris, Ry Cavanaugh, and Sean Staples can play, write, and sing with the best of them. Recorded live, it gives the feeling of a wonderful night among good friends - very talented friends, to be sure. Highlight - Kris' vocals on a gorgeous cover of Son Volt's Tear Stained Eye.
