Album Notes

Jeremy Vasquez and Ronnie Shellist flew to Chicago,IL
to record this cd with the one and only
Nick Moss and the Fliptops. They wanted to get that true Chicago feel and sound that could only be captured with the right guys. This cd is a wonderful combination of traditional and modern blues all of which is original material. The band consists of the following people: Nick Moss on bass and guitar, Gerry Hundt on rhythm guitar and keys, Bob Carter on drums, Willie O'shawny on piano, Jeremy Vasquez on guitar and vocals, and Ronnie Shellist on harmonica. This cd captures some high energy blues as well as some slow low down music.
Check it out. This is the real deal!

Copy of message I sent to editor of Blues Revue magazine. I’d be so pleased if you could see your way to publish this by way of saying a huge thank you to Tom Hyslop. It was his Blues Bites review in issue no 112 that drew me to the self released ‘Chicago Blues Sessions’ by Ronnie Shellist and Jeremy Vasquez, neither of whom I had heard of before reading Tom’s review. The threat of “miss this title at your peril” combined with the wonderful album cover artwork by Bryan Johnson prompted me to give it a try. I had a marvellous and hilarious on line shopping experience with CD Baby and a week later I was listening to the disc for the first time. Every track is a knockout and I’m blown away by the sheer virtuosity and intelligence of the harmonica playing of Ronnie Shellist and the guitar playing of Jeremy Vasquez, all totally pure to the blues form in the old tradition. The recording and production is a masterpiece thanks to the hugely talented Nick Moss who also plays superb bass throughout and lead guitar on one track. 6 months of repeated listening later and the track titled ‘Here I am Part 2’ still has Ronnie Shellist’s harmonica giving me goose bumps all the way up my back and my expectation of Jeremy Vasquez’s guitar solo is so intense that I’m sure one day I’ll have a seizure! Thanks again for a brief, accurate and very effective review which has introduced me to some wonderful young musicians who, along with the Moss brothers, will hopefully keep the blues alive for many years to come. Kind regards Stuart Andrews Reigate Surrey UK

If you enjoy the blues, you need to add this CD to your collection. The harmonica and guitar playing is off the charts!...I hope that these guys will put out some more CD's in the future....
