Album Notes

The CD has been recorded and mixed by Aldo Menti and myself during the month of March 2002 at White Studio, Italy.
The recording is completely acoustic and we have tried our best to capture the true tone and sound of my guitar and the other acoustic instruments. We have been using two AKG Acoustics C414B microphones.

Most of the tracks features solo flatpicking guitar and we have recorded everything live, without overdubs.
The title " Sit Back" reflects the general mood of the CD. It reflects my passion for melody. It reflects my search for a less frenetic life.

Most of the times the tunes I write are a combination of my love for bluegrass and my love for all the great Italian melodies I have been listening to growing up here.

The CD features the presence of two musician friends of mine: Stefania Cavedon, on cello, and Toni Moretti on upright bass. They have been able to express perfectly my musical ideas giving a fuller sound to the overall work.

BIOGRAPHY

Acoustic guitar artist Roberto Dalla Vecchia draws deeply from his personal homeland to craft his melodic folk-Bluegrass tunes.
Based in Italy, Dalla Vecchia performs regularly at concerts and festivals and teaches workshops throughout Europe.
This top Italian guitarist is recognized and praised as one of the most gifted performers of the national guitar scene. He is the winner of Acoustic Guitar Magazine's 2003 Homegrown CD Award.

The Vicenza, Italy-based artist learned classical piano as a child, but later embraced the guitar studying with flatpicking guitar guru Beppe Gambetta.
Dalla Vecchia maintains a busy solo performance schedule at various venues throughout Europe. He toured nationally and internationally, performing at the European World of Bluegrass (Barneveld, The Netherlands), SBMA Winter Bluegrass Festival (Brugg, Switzerland) Blue Dew Festival (Zwolle, The Netherlands), Bluegrass Festival Hoofddorp (Hoofddorp, The Netherlands), International Guitar Festival (Sarzana, Italy), Notte Country (Milano, Italy), Country & Bluegrass Music Festival (Vicenza, Italy) among others.
In addition to performing at concerts, festivals, community events, Dalla Vecchia teaches flatpicking guitar workshops in Italy and at the Beppe Gambetta's International Summer Camp, Slovenia.

Dalla Vecchia makes his own mark with Open Space, an ambitious, richly textured collection of compositions, some solo, others with a band.
His second solo CD Sit Back has been released in 2002. The predominantly original collection incorporates alternate tunings, harmonics, and other percussive techniques, and his songs allow a listener to lose oneself, and ramble the back roads of a personal, musical landscape.
His guitar work is also featured on various compilation CDs, European World of Bluegrass 1999 and 2001 (SCR Productions), Flatpicking 2003 (FGM Records), among others. Now plans are in the works for further recordings.

Dalla Vecchia's playing stands out as melodically inspired and meaningfully focused. Let his signature flatpick style guide you through an original and exciting repertoire of new standards for acoustic guitar.

REVIEWS

a beautiful album of guitar music
author: J Thibodeau
Beautiful album of instrumental music based on flat picked guitar. Not once does the guitar work take away from the music. This is the sign of a quality production. I've listened to a lot of "guitar" albums and this is by far one of my favorites.

author: Don Kissil
My all time favorite was your "Whispering Grove" and the cello here was blended particularly well. I too love the cello for mood. and your "Sultry Day" had me close my eyes and be up somewhere in a quiet glider plane alternately floating and soaring over the hills of Tuscany.

author: WOOD & STEEL - Anthony Adams
Dalla Vecchia proves himself to be a talented composer as well as a virtuoso guitarist. His highly melodic compositions have a vocal quality and phrasing, fitting for a musician who was born and bred in a land where opera and great singing are as ubiquitous as pasta.
