your're right in there, wherever it is they are, right from the get go.  it's like they all thought of the same strange dark place at once and began...and they don't let up.  the electronic percussion really drives, with very limited sounds at first, imagination and taste moving the other sounds ever forward, never repetitive.  eventually acoustic percussive sounds come into play, and the blending of the two is tight and startling.  the bass and the trumpet slip in and out of non-standard voices...sometimes the trumpet even sounds like John Scofield.  improvised and recorded live, it's obvious these guys know each other well.  there is a jazz feel, a precision and direction throughout that keeps it from ever becoming "experimental" music.  they have something to say.  they've explored a strange place together, reacting and learning and conveying without words, with titles that suggest states of difficulty in explaining something that cannot be explained in words, fever states, controlled delerium, shamanism.
